Madison County Sheriff’s Department Rules and Regulations for Visitation
INMATE VISITATION
EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2009, INMATES ARE NOT PERMITTED VISITORS DURING THE 1ST 30 DAYS OF CONFINEMENT EXCEPT FOR LEGAL COUNCIL. IF AN INMATE RECIEVES A DISCIPLINARY DURING THE 1ST 30 DAYS OF CONFINEMENT THE 30 DAYS WILL RESTART ON THE LAST DAY OF THE DISCIPLINARY PERIOD.
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2009 INMATE VISITATION WILL TAKE PLACE THE 2ND AND 4TH WEEKS OF EACH MONTH ONLY. IT WILL STILL BE NECESSARY TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS BY CALLING 256-519-4864 ON TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND THURSDAY BETWEEN 0730-1000 OR BETWEEN 2PM-4PM ON THE VISITATION WEEK ONLY.
EFFECTIVE JULY 20, 2010, VISITATION FOR THE TOWER FACILITY WILL TAKE PLACE WEEKLY ACCORDING TO THE BELOW LISTED SCHEDULES. IT IS NO LONGER NECESSARY TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS FOR INDIVIDUALS HOUSED IN THE TOWER FACILITY. VISITS ARE LIMITED TO TWO VISITORS OF ANY RELATIONSHIP TO THE INMATE, WITH A TOTAL OF TWO SEPARATE VISITATION PERIODS FOR AN INMATE PER SCHEDULED VISITATION DAY. VISITORS MAY NOT VISIT MORE THAN ONCE IN A WEEK. EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 2009 THE LISTED VISITORS WILL BE LIMITED TO PARENTS, SPOUSES, OR CHILDREN. ANYONE FALSIFYING THE RELATIONSHIP OF ANY VISITOR IS SUBJECT TO HAVING THEIR VISITATION PRIVILEGES PERMANENTLY SUSPENDED. *ALL OTHER VISITATION RULES WILL STILL APPLY!!*
Inmate visitation times are listed below. Each inmate has one visitation period per visitation day, and may have up to three visitors during that one period. Visitors will be allowed 15 minutes per visit. Visitors may visit as many inmates that have them properly listed; however, the visitor may not visit the same inmate twice. Contact visits for the honor dorm will be announced each month by the Honor Dorm supervisor (see “Inmate Worker” section).
Inmates housed in the Main Detention Facility must complete an “INMATE VISITATION” card listing the expected visitors. Names not appearing on the inmate visitation card will not be allowed to visit. Visitation cards will be collected Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am. These are the only accepted times for Visitation Card submission. Inmates must list the full name, complete address, phone number, and relationship of each visitor. Failure to complete the card correctly will result in the inmate not receiving visitors. A maximum of eight (8) names are allowed on an inmate’s visitation card. Additions to the card (up to the eight (8) maximum) may be completed on a green Inmate Request Form. NO substitutions will be allowed. You may remove someone from your list, but that only prevents them from visiting. It DOES NOT allow you to add someone else in that individual’s place. Once an individual has been removed from a visitation card, they are not eligible to be placed back on the card for a period of one (1) year. An inmate having been confined for one consecutive year may submit a new visitation card with eight names.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILTY OF THE INMATE TO CORRECTLY LIST THE NAMES, ADDRESSES, AND PHONE NUMBERS OF HIS/HER VISITORS.
BELOW ARE THE SCHEDULED VISITATION WEEKENDS THROUGH THE END OF 2010.
*ALL OTHER VISITATION RULES WILL STILL APPLY!!*
