The MADISON COUNTY RECORDS CENTER is located on the 3rd floor of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library. An extention of the Probate Judge's office, the Records Center was established by the Judge of Probate for Madison County so that the historic county records would be preserved and available to the public.
Available records currently include both Probate and Circuit Court records. Probate records include Marriages 1809-1972; case files 1810-1965 (these include wills, estates, guardianships, apprenticeships, etc.); naturalizations; old deed and mortgage books; newspapers on microfilm (present back to 1813 located in the Heritage Room); Judgments 1810 - 1950; Land Abstracts; and Sheriff's Record Books. There are also Orphan's Court, Superior Court, and Chancery Court record books and much more.
Indexes for records held are currently being prepared and each will be placed online as soon as completed.

MAPS
The Madison County Records Center houses many older records of G. W. Jones and Sons - civil engineers. G. W. Jones and Sons has surveyed most if not all of Madison county. This is a tremendous resource consisting of bound books and many filing cabinets where land records are catalogued by Township and Range. For pictures which explain what we have we add the following link:
