The Madison County Commission recognizes our Seniors need assistance with costly medication. We know pharmaceutical companies are mandated
to provide medications to low-income Seniors. But often extensive paperwork and knowing what to do and where to go become stumbling blocks that deny older Americans the opportunity to obtain less costly or possibly even free medication.
For that reason, the Madison County Commission will take the lead with Senior Rx by assisting seniors in filling out necessary paperwork. Consequently, physicians will be assured that their patients can afford life-sustaining medications.
We know the cost of medications continue to rise, the average prescription drug cost for Seniors is $400 a month and most Seniors live on fixed incomes. We expect some 18,000 Seniors in Madison County will qualify for assistance.
To qualify, you must be 55
years of age, meet income guidelines and have no prescription insurance coverage.
